Decline

Definition

A funder’s refusal to make an offer on a submitted file.

Roughly half of declines are properties of the merchant — negative days, existing positions, time in business — and cannot be fixed. The other half are properties of the file: an unrealistic ask, missing months, no context for an anomaly, or placement with a funder that never wanted that paper.
