CAN-SPAM

Definition

The federal law governing commercial email, requiring accurate headers, a clear opt-out and honouring it promptly.

Applies to the follow-up email as much as to a campaign, and it applies to business recipients. The requirements are modest and the failures are usually administrative rather than deliberate — a missing physical address, or an unsubscribe that takes too long to process.
